Pierre Cardin’s collection for the fall-winter 2025-2026 season, presented at Paris Fashion Week, is a harmonious blend of futuristic vision and modern design. The main source of inspiration was the mysterious aura of the moon, which translated into cosmic forms, innovative materials and bold silhouettes that evoke fashion from another galaxy.

Pierre Cardin was a designer who was continuously looking to the future with his work, and his fashion was a daring vision of tomorrow, heavily influenced by space and science fiction. His ideas were daring and inventive, and his enthusiasm for space travel was palpable in every aspect. Cardin imagined that in the future, his garments would be a natural part of the space landscape.
“In 2069, we will all walk on the moon or Mars wearing my ‘Cosmocorps’ ensembles. Women will wear Plexiglas cloche hats and tube clothing, men will be wearing elliptical pants and kinetic tunics,” he once said.
His heir, Rodrigo Basilicati-Cardin, is carrying on this forward-thinking legacy. His work with the European Space Agency on astronaut training suits is an excellent illustration of this. Cardin’s idea of future fashion is still alive and relevant, as seen by fashion presentations conducted in spectacular places and the latest collection, which features a futuristic look employing modern and ecological materials. Although other design companies have developed, the Pierre Cardin brand has maintained its pioneering approach, demonstrating that the future of fashion has already arrived.
The models at Pierre Cardin’s fall show wore dramatic, futuristic outfits inspired by the designer’s space-age aesthetic, with brilliant colors, geometric designs like A-line dresses and tubular puffer jackets, and space-themed appliqués referencing the lunar surface. The styles included a mix of sparkling bodysuits with contrasting capes and characteristic rust-colored jumpsuits with vinyl porthole pockets. The collection combined archival and modern textiles, such as marine wool and materials reclaimed from plastic bottles, with certain designs experimenting with structure and volume, such as a light gray jumpsuit with a high neck. Futuristic accessories, such as peaked sunglasses and chrome helmets, enhanced the sci-fi image.
Do Cardin’s big forecasts about the future of fashion have any possibility of coming true? Will his futuristic style overtake our wardrobes? Only time will tell whether Pierre Cardin was as ahead of his time as he claimed.
