Christian Juul Nielsen debuted his Fall Winter 2026 collection for AKNVAS at Storied NYC in Chelsea

Inspired by The Snow Queen by Hans Christian Andersen, the Fall Winter 2026 collection translates the fairy tale into a modern narrative of journey, power, and transformation. The collection moves through emotional and visual landscapes, unfolding across three acts

AKNVAS was founded in 2019 by Danish designer Christian Juul Nielsen. Clients can expect luxury level products designed to move seamlessly from day to evening, with a focus on drape, flattering silhouettes, innovative knits and an elevated palette. Drawing from Nielsen’s previous roles at Dior and Oscar de la Renta, the brand incorporates design techniques from his time designing couture gowns with each garment crafted with a similar attention to detail.

ACT I: THE ICE PALACE

At the beginning, there is an Ice Palace—still, ceremonial, and untouched by warmth. Its world is one of restraint and quiet beauty, where movement is measured and elegance feels distant. Like a snow ballerina, the figure within drifts through frozen halls, poised and composed, carrying grace without softness.

ACT II: THE TRAVELLER

A traveller moves through the palace, shaped by its cold order and silent rituals. The journey is precise and deliberate, as though time itself has slowed. Pale shades shimmer like frost in morning light, and everything feels held—protected, controlled, and suspended. Beauty here is not loud; it exists in discipline, stillness, and distance.

ACT III: TEARDROPS

In the final act, emotion breaks the surface. Teardrops take form, becoming vessels of feeling and creation. In the fairy tale that inspires this moment, tears are born from frustration and sorrow, yet they carry warmth within them. As they fall, they soften the frozen world, transforming restraint into tenderness, and cold beauty into love.
