In a fashion world that is continuously redefining beauty and expression, an event is approaching that will demonstrate that style has no expiration date. Kingsley Manor Retirement Home cordially invites you to the second edition of its outstanding fashion show, “A Black Tie Affair,” which will be held on Thursday, April 24, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m.
Ten seniors ranging in age from 72 to 105 will walk the runway wearing fashions that reflect their personality, history, and distinctive beauty. The event is designed to be more than just a visual celebration; it is also a manifestation of strength, confidence, and joy in life for all ages.
Professional preparation, local fashion, and timeless style
A catwalk coach who has worked with models such as Tyra Banks trained the residents for the performance, and their styling will be handled by Fashion Institute students and beauty industry specialists. Participants will dress in three sets: their own everyday style, a look produced by two local retailers, and a “Black Tie Affairs” version inspired by previous big evenings out.
Olivia Acevedo, Miss America Los Angeles, will host the event, which will also feature a LA Kings dancer. The Karl Marsh Jazz Ensemble will provide live music to enhance the atmosphere, and visitors will be fed delicious food.
A show that provides voice and empowers
Michael Essex, Director of Life Enrichment at Kingsley Manor, created the event in 2024 as a kind of assistance for residents, allowing them to find themselves through fashion.
“It was supposed to be a local event, but it turned into something extraordinary, something that moves not only our community, but the entire industry,” says executive director Liyon O’Quinn.
The concert is free to attend, but online registration is necessary and seating is limited.
The event is held in conjunction with Los Angeles Fashion Week, which only adds to its significance and trendy aspect.
